The Star Wars Galaxies™ Galactic Call to Arms Fan Art Contest
OFFICIAL RULES

Contest Dates. Participation constitutes Contestant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. The Star Wars Galaxies™ Galactic Call to Arms Fan Art Contest ("Contest") begins at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time ("PDT") Monday, May 18, 2009 and ends at 10:00 a.m. PDT Monday, June 8, 2009 ("Contest Period"). Contest is sponsored by Sony Online Entertainment LLC, 8928 Terman Court, San Diego, CA 92121 ("Sponsor"). Entries submitted before or after the Contest Period will not be considered or judged. Selected Contestants will be announced on or about Saturday, June 27, 2009.

Eligibility: Only the individual person ("Contestant") who created and submitted the actual Submission may enter or win (sorry, no team Submissions). In the event of a dispute as to authorship, Sponsor and its agents or licensors reserve the right to disqualify any entry or Selected Contestant or to determine that the actual Contestant shall be deemed the natural person who is listed as the authorized user for the contact email address. Sponsor's eligibility decisions are final. Contest is open only to natural persons who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia) for the duration of the Contest. Void in Puerto Rico, Guam, all other U.S. including military bases, and all foreign territories and possessions and wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Contest may only be entered from and in eligible jurisdictions. Contestants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at time of entry in order to participate and must have a Star Wars Galaxies account in good standing. Employees, officers, directors, and agents of Sponsor, Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd., Lucasfilm Ltd, their parent company, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, their immediate family members and persons living in their same household, are not eligible to participate in the Contest. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.

How to Enter: Online entries only. To enter, you must have a Star Wars Galaxies account in good standing (Click here http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com to create an account). Review the requirements posted below in the Submission Guidelines of these Official Rules. Then, using elements, characters and scenery from the Star Wars Galaxies game, in accordance with the Star Wars Galaxies Terms of Use, create and submit one (1) piece of original artwork or screenshot following the below Submissions Guidelines. To enter, send your Submission by e-mail to soecontests@soe.sony.com with a link to your Submission in the body of the email. Do not include your Submission as an attachment. The Submission must be hosted externally, and made available for download by Sponsor. All entries must contain in the e-mail subject line: “Star Wars Galaxies Galactic Call to Arms Fan Art Contest,” and in addition to the link to your Submission, e-mails should also contain the title of your Submission, your first and last name, your age, your mailing address (including street name, apartment number (if any), city, state, zip code and phone number; no P.O. Boxes will be accepted), your e-mail address, your Star Wars Galaxies forum community name/handle (if applicable), your server name, your Station name (do not include passwords), and your category for consideration (i.e., Rebel or Imperial). Submissions posted on any game-related website forum will not be accepted for entry.

Submission Guidelines: Contestants are limited to only one (1) Submission per natural person and account. Your Submission must be a .jpg or .bmp format of original artwork that you personally created or a screenshot from Star Wars Galaxies, either 512 pixels wide x 512 pixels high or 256 pixels wide x 512 pixels high or 512 pixels wide by 256 pixels high, depicting a visual representation of a “Galactic Call to Arms” (preparation for a battle), showing forces training, gathering, strategizing, marching, or socializing just before a battle within the Galactic Civil War in the game Star Wars Galaxies (each, a "Submission" and collectively, the “Submissions”). Your Submission must be based on characters, scenery, or items from the Star Wars Galaxies universe. Submissions depicting movie posters, likenesses of actors, or imagery depicting scenes from the Star Wars™ films will not be considered. Do not add a frame or border around the Submission (if you are capturing and submitting a screenshot, press CTRL+ALT+H to hide the interface). Submissions with a visible interface will not be considered. Do not include any text in the Submission. Contestants acknowledge that Sponsor and/or its licensor(s) own all right title and interest in and to all materials contained in the Submission. Any Submission that requires non-generic, plug-in applications will not be opened or considered for entry. With the exception of Sponsor or its licensor(s)'s materials that are included in each Submission (according to the terms and conditions for fan site materials, as set forth in the Station Terms of Service), the Submission must be the Contestant's original design and creation, executed solely by the Contestant. The content of the Submission must not be subject to the rights of any third parties, other than Sponsor or its licensor(s). The Submission may not be offensive or otherwise unsuitable for use, as determined in Sponsor's sole discretion. Contestants not complying with these requirements will be disqualified. Contestants must comply with the Star Wars Galaxies Terms of Use, Station Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and all Star Wars Galaxies rules, regulations, and policies. Contestants not complying with these requirements will be disqualified. Any robotic, automatic, or programmed Submission, or any Submission submitted by agencies, other third parties, or through other unapproved methods are void.

Submission Conditions. By participating in the Contest, you are granting Sponsor and its licensor(s) an irrevocable and fully sublicensable right and license to publish, use, edit, copy, distribute, transmit, perform, and display any or all of the content in your Submission and your Star Wars Galaxies character and name/handle, without prior or further approval, without territorial, time, or other limitations, in any form or media now known or later developed, for any and all purposes, including, but not limited to, marketing, advertising, and promotional purposes. You also hereby waive any so-called "moral rights" in the entry.

Determination of Winners: Submissions will be pre-screened to ensure they have correctly met the below Submission Guidelines and meet with Sponsor's general standards and practices prior to any judging. Selected Contestants will be selected in two (2) rounds accordance with the following judging procedure.

Panel of Judges: Eligible Submissions will be judged by a panel of judges, consisting of members of Sponsor's Star Wars Galaxies Development, Community Relations, Marketing and Public Relations Teams, according to the criteria set forth below, and whose decisions are final and binding in all respects. After the Contest Period, the panel of judges will use the following criteria in determining a ranking of the top Submissions (the number of which is at Sponsor's discretion, based upon the number and quality of valid Submissions). The panel of judges will use a 0-100 point scale evaluating each Submission equally on the following criteria: originality (0-25 points), creativity (0-25 points), presentation (0-25 points), visual portrayal of the thematic content and overall presentation (0-25 points). Six (6) finalists (three (3) from each faction) with the highest scores will be chosen to move to the second round (each, a "Top Contestant," collectively, “Top Contestants”). Prior to commencement of the second round, the Top Contestants will be contacted by email or telephone using the information they provided in their entry email and will be required to complete affidavit of eligibility / liability / publicity release form(s) ("Release"). The Top Contestants will have seventy-two (72) hours to respond by e-mail or telephone, and five (5) total days to complete and return any required Release(s), before being considered a "Finalist." Any Top Contestant who does not complete and return all forms within the specified time period will not be considered a "Finalist" and will not advance to the second round. In the event that a Top Contestant does not return the completed paperwork in its entirety, another Top Contestant may be chosen from among Submissions with the next highest total points scored, at Sponsor's sole and absolute discretion. In the event that fewer than six (6) finalists have returned completed Release(s) within a reasonable period of time after the first round, the remaining Finalists shall proceed to the second round.

Following the Contest Period, and for a period of seven (7) days ("Voting Period"), the Finalists' Submissions will be placed on www.StarWarsGalaxies.com for review and voting by Star Wars Galaxies registered users. Only one (1) vote per registered user. The two (2) Finalists (one (1) in the Rebel category, one (1) in the Imperial category) with the most votes tallied during the Voting Period will be deemed "Selected Contestants." In the event of a tie for any portion of the Contest, the judging panel shall break that tie by rescoring the tying entries.

Finalists will only be selected from those eligible entries meeting the judging criteria set forth above and, if no entry meets the criteria above, in the judging panel's sole and absolute discretion, then no prize shall be awarded. Sponsor will announce the winners at http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com on or about June 27, 2009.

Prizes. Subject to verification of eligibility, up to two (2) First Place Prizes will be awarded to the Selected Contestant(s) (one (1) in the Rebel category, one (1) in the Imperial category). Each eligible Selected Contestant will have his or her Submission placed on an in-game painting in Star Wars Galaxies, which, upon examination (in the game's examination window),and at Sponsor’s sole discretion, will display the Selected Contestant's character name and server name. For a limited time, one (1) copy of each Selected Contestant’s Submission will be provided as an in-game painting to all players of Star Wars Galaxies as a Sixth Anniversary gift. No physical prizes will be awarded.

General Limitations for All Prizes: No alternative prize, cash, or other substitution is permitted except by Sponsor in the event of prize unavailability. Prizes are non-transferable. All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of Selected Contestant. A total of two (2) prizes will be awarded. Total ARV of all Prizes: US$0.00.

Requirements of Winners: By agreeing to become a Finalist and/or accepting and/or using prize, Selected Contestant agrees to the use of his or her name, voice and/or likeness, Star Wars Galaxies character, forum name/handle and Submission, for the purpose of advertising, trade, or promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. If a selected potential Selected Contestant cannot be contacted, is ineligible (under these rules or due to a failure to comply with any of the other applicable policies, licenses, rules, and terms of service, fails to claim a prize, or fails to timely return the completed and executed releases/agreements as required), prize may be forfeited and an alternate potential Selected Contestant may, at Sponsor's discretion, be selected.

General Terms and Conditions: By participating in the Contest, Contestant agrees that under no circumstances, including, but not limited to, negligence, shall Sponsor or its licensors, its and their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, agents, successors, and assigns, and all prize providers (the "Released Parties") be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out participation in the Contest, even if any or all of the Released Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, therefore such exclusions may not apply to you. By participating in the Contest, Contestant waives any and all rights to bring any claim or action related to his/her participation in any forum beyond one (1) year after the first occurrence of the kind of act, event, condition or omission upon which the claim or action is based. By entering, each Contestant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which shall be final. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any person, entry, or e-mail address that Sponsor determines to be in violation of any term contained in these Official Rules. Sponsor, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, licensors, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, and prize providers, and the respective employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, and representatives of each, are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) any errors in Contest-related materials, or late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible or postage-due entries, notices, releases, forms, affidavits, or other correspondence; (ii) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, interruptions or difficulties of any kind; (iii) failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions; (iv) any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsor that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (v) any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the prize, or acceptance, possession, or use of the prize, or from participation in the Contest or arising from the Contestant's access to and use of the Internet site http://www.station.sony.com (and all related websites of Sponsor, including http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com), including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy, to the extent permitted by law; or (vi) any errors in any materials associated with the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest if any problem corrupts the administration, security, or operation of the Contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

Disputes: Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California. As a condition of participating in the Contest, Contestant agrees that any and all actions or proceedings related to the Contest shall be exclusively brought in the County of San Diego, State of California (if under state law) or the Southern District of California (if under Federal law), and the parties agree not to raise in connection therewith, and hereby waive, any defenses based upon the venue, the inconvenience of the forum, the lack of personal jurisdiction, the sufficiency of service of process or the like in any such action or suit brought in the State of California.

Winners' List and Official Rules: A winners' list will be posted on the web site at http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com, at the conclusion of the Contest. Requests must be received no later than November 30, 2009.
