“Galactic Call to Arms Fan Art” Contest

In celebration of the Star Wars Galaxies™ 6-Year Anniversary, we’re hosting the “Galactic Call to Arms Fan Art” Contest!

We're looking for images depicting preparations before a battle to add the game as new in-game paintings. The image should display forces training, gathering, strategizing, marching, or maybe even socializing just before a battle within the Galactic Civil War. If you're a budding artist, this is your chance to leave a mark on the galaxy by showing off your skills while creating an in-game painting. Create custom art depicting a scene in the game or base your entry around an in-game screenshot.

Submit your image to us and we will select finalists and present them to the community for a vote. The images with the most votes will be added to the game as new painting.

The submission period begins on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. (PDT) and concludes on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. (PDT). Winners will be announced on or around Saturday, June 27, 2009.

Prizes: 

• First Place: (up to 2 winners)
• There will be up to one Rebel-themed and one Imperial-themed winner for first place. First place winners will have their images added to the game as new in-game paintings, which will be available to all players for a limited time. Information about obtaining the in-game paintings will be provided once the contest winners have been announced. 

Submission Guidelines:

• The image must be based on the Star Wars Galaxies universe. Submissions depicting movie posters, likenesses of actors or key Star Wars™ figures, or imagery depicting scenes from the Star Wars films will not be considered.

• Submitted images must be an original creation, except for elements from the Star Wars Galaxies game used in compliance with the Station Terms of Use and other rules and regulations of the Star Wars Galaxies web site. You may NOT use any materials that you do not own the rights to for the purposes of this contest. Likewise, taking an image from something that you do not own and altering it slightly then presenting it as your own work is strictly prohibited.

• Images must be suitable for an in-game painting. Do not add a frame or border around the image. Do not include any text in the image. If you are capturing and submitting a screenshot, press CTRL+ALT+H to hide the interface. Submissions with a visible interface will not be considered.

• The image size must be in JPG or BMP format and either 512 pixels wide by 512 pixels tall or 256 pixels wide by 512 pixels tall or 512 pixels wide by 256 pixels tall.

• Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity, visual portrayal of the thematic content and overall presentation by a panel of judges, consisting of members of the Star Wars Galaxies Development, Community Relations, Marketing and Public Relations Teams.

• Be Creative: The judges will be looking for creativity. Does your fan art show imagination? Passion? Does your image portray a great story? The more creative your image is and the better chance you have to win!

Eligibility:

• You must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and a legal resident of the 50 United States (including District of Columbia) to participate.
• Only one (1) entry per natural person and Star Wars Galaxies account will be accepted.
• The Contestant must have an active Star Wars Galaxies account in good standing.
• By entering this contest, you agree to all of the terms and conditions in the Official Contest Rules, so please make sure you read them carefully!
